Irish Flute player Laura Byrne on Atlantic Weekly pt 2 sat 11/27

Laura Byrne will be making a guest appearance on Atlantic Weekly pt 2, saturday November 27th at 11:00 am, before her appearance at C'ville Coffee that evening together with Pat Egan on guitar and vocals, Myron Bretholz on bodhran (Irish frame drum) and Rhys Jones on fiddle. The concert is being presented by the Blue Ridge Irish Music School (BRIMS) and C-Ville Coffee Stage CafĂ©.

Laura's flute playing has been described as "effortless, powerful and engaging." Highly regarded on both sides of the Atlantic, Laura is based in Baltimore, Maryland and recently won a Maryland State Arts Council award for solo performance. She has performed throughout North America and in Ireland and just released her second solo recording, Lucky Day, in July 2010.

In addition to being fabulous musicians, Laura, Pat, Rhys and Myron are experienced and sought after teachers who have taught at Irish and old time workshops, festivals and music programs all over the US and Canada. They will be offering workshops throughout the day of the concert.  These workshops will include Irish guitar accompaniment, singing (songs taught will be in English, not in Irish Gaelic), Irish flute, Irish tin whistle, old time fiddle and bodhran (Irish frame drum).  The workshops will take place in the C-Tunes studio at 1108 W. Main St. (above Studio Art Shop) in Charlottesville.
